4. Nodules
Nodules are inflamed acne lesions which are large, solid, and painful lumps deep in the skin. They can leave permanent scarring.

Papules and pustules are inflamed acne lesions on the surface of skin. Papules are small, red and hard bumps on surface of skin. Pustules mimic papules with yellowish or whitish pus.
6. Cystic Nodules
Cystic nodules are inflamed acne lesions deep in the skin which are large, painful and filled with pus. They can leave permanent scarring.
